As soon as I stepped out of the car, I knew that the early morning wake up call, the five-hour drive and the threat of thunderstorms were worth it. And, while the mugginess was overwhelming, the delicious smell of pine mixed with the earthy smell of rain was the perfect start to a day of forest engagement photos with Sam + Kerry. My goal is to provide my clients with more than images, but a unique and adventurous experience–from the moment they contact me. And, if there’s a free-spirited couple who knows how to chase adventure then it’s Sam + Kerry! I don’t normally trek into the heart of the Sam Houston National Forest, but this spot provided the ideal environment to capture the fun-loving and newly engaged couple.
I met Kerry almost six years ago over Skype and she’s been keeping me on my toes ever since!
She’s graduated college, traveled the globe (and, by that I mean, she spent a year living in a tent in Central America, Asia and Africa!) and returned to school to graduate with her master’s degree. In these last six years, we’ve experienced a lot of heartbreak together. When she asked to grab coffee so I could meet Sam, I was so excited! Can you say, “Twitterpated!” The way these two looked at each other told me all I needed to know about Sam. And, they haven’t stopped looking at each other that way since.
During their engagement session, I wanted to capture their natural easy-going manner, their adorable banter and their love for nature.
To help my couples feel at ease, I laugh right along with my couples. I helped them prep for the session, which included shopping and helping pair outfits for Sam + Kerry. I want the actual session to be a great experience. Anything I can do to help my couples prep for the day, I’m game!
I absolutely love my couples! And, I’m so humbled anytime another couple trusts me to capture their love story. Not all my sessions take place in a forest, but they all hold a special place in my photography journey.
